The Da Nang authorities have recently given the go-ahead for implementing the ‘Enhancing the educational quality for disadvantaged children’ project in the city.

Funded by Save the Children International (SCI), the world’s leading independent organisation for children, the 166,660 EUR project will be deployed in 5 preschools and 5 primary schools in Hoa Vang and Lien Chieu districts from now until November 2019.

In rural Hoa Vang District, there are Hoa Lien and Hoa Son preschools, along with Hoa Lien 2 and Hoa Son 2 primary schools.

In Urban Lien Chieu District, there are Mang Non, Son Ca and 1 June preschools, plus Au Co, Hong Quang and Trung Nu Vuong primary schools.

The purpose of the project is to improve school readiness for underprivileged children studying in the above-mentioned schools by teaching them how to read and write, and learn Maths.

Also under the project, toilets at the preschools will be upgraded, whilst handwash basins will be installed. Moreover, the preschool pupils will be taught personal hygiene practices to avoid the spread of infection following.
