A Vietnam Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Da Nang International Airport on Wednesday afternoon so a Chinese baby who fell ill on the flight could be treated, the Vietnamese national flag carrier said the same day.

Flight VN1203, with 155 passengers on board, landed at the airport at 4:10 pm after a two-year-old girl with Chinese nationality came down with a high fever and suffered from convulsions.

The plane, an Airbus A321, had left Noi Bai International Airport at 2:40 pm for the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, but when it was 80 miles past Da Nang, the baby came sick.

The flight chief pilot therefore decided to fly back to the Da Nang airport so that emergency treatment could be given to the baby, who was accompanied by her parents.

A Vietnam Airlines representative at the airport helped the girl’s parents take her to a local hospital.

The flight left Da Nang at 4:55 pm to continue its flight to Can Tho.

According to the latest information from the hospital, the baby is able to breathe on her own and is still receiving treatment there.
