21st Regional Conference of Dermatology being held from 10 - 12 April

The 21st Regional Conference of Dermatology (Asian-Australasian) is taking place at the Furama Resort Danang from 10 to 12 April.  The world’s largest event of its kind is being attended by around 1,000 people from 11 countries in Asia and Australasia.  Eight participants are dermatological experts from such developed countries as the UK, France, the USA, Japan and Canada.

A total of 430 scientific themes about the world’s latest research in dermatology will be presented at the event, of which 60 will be reported by Vietnamese experts.  All of the scientific reports will focus on rare and weird diseases in developing countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Viet Nam.  In addition, the reports will cover sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS, treating difficult diseases using advanced medical treatments such as cosmetic surgery, stem cells and laser therapy, and various types of skin diseases.

During his speech at a press conference on Thursday morning, the Director of the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology, Associate Professor Tran Hau Khang, said that Viet Nam is seeing an increasing number of cases of rare diseases.  He also noted that an increase in the number of sexually transmitted diseases had been recorded in the country.  To deal with the above matters, special attention is being paid to effectively implementing national prevention and control programmes for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS.  The purpose is to raise the public’s awareness of these diseases, and to help them to detect these diseases early and receive treatment immediately.
