The most possible favourable conditions would be created for the American Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (AmCham Viet Nam), especially its recently- established Da Nang Chapter, to ensure its effective operation in Da Nang, thereby facilitating its member businesses to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang’s priority aspects.

The statement was made by municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang during his meeting on Friday morning with a delegation of AmCham Viet Nam, led by Mr Chad Ovel, the Chairman of AmCham Viet Nam cum Mekong Capital Partner.

Deputy Secretary Quang highlighted the importance of AmCham Viet Nam to the Viet Nam-US cooperation relationship, especially in trade, over recent years. Noticeably, established in June, the Da Nang Chapter is now on its missions to boost cooperation in economy, investment and trade between Vietnamese and American businesses which now operate in Da Nang and the Central region as a whole.

Mr Quang also highlighted investment opportunities in Da Nang in such priority aspects as IT, hi-tech industry and high-end resort tourism for Chapter’s member businesses. He also said that Viet Nam’s national government has advocated the establishment of a financial centre in Da Nang in the near future.

AmCham Viet Nam Chairman Chad Ovel affirmed his agency’s stance in supporting its member businesses to operate effectively in the city, most of which are active in the aspects of tourism, retail and services. Mr Chad Ovel also remarked that AmCham Viet Nam is willing to share ideas and experience for Da Nang’s progress.

On Friday afternoon, a webinar themed ‘Da Nang – the Next Southeast Asia’s Silicon Valley for Investment’ took place in the city.

Co- hosted by the KPMG Viet Nam and the Investment Promotion Agency, the event attracted the online participation of representatives from about 100 businesses in the US, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Discussions focussed on why Da Nang, and Viet Nam at large, is an ideal destination for investors in tech sector.
