Chairman Tho remarked Da Nang and Kawasaki started to establish their cooperative ties in 1994 through the signing of a cooperative agreement between the Da Nang and Kawasaki ports.

In October 2007, the two cities entered into a memorandum of understanding on fostering the bilateral cooperation activities in the aspects of industry, seaport and environment. However, the cooperation potential between the two sides has yet to be fully tapped.

The city chief  took the opportunity to ask a helping hand from the Kawasaki government to appeal for even more large enterprises and corporations to invest into Da Nang in various aspects such as manufacturing industries, processing, services, hi-tech, and information technology. In addition, assistance should be given in sharing experiences in seaport management, education, and cultural exchange.

In reply, Japanese mayor Norihiko Fukuda affirmed that his city was willing to boost bilateral cooperative actities with Da Nang in the time ahead.

He noted he would do his utmost to call for even more investors from his city to visit Da Nang to learn about the city’s investment climate.  Besides, his city was willing to share its experience in seaport management work with Da Nang in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation.
