Deputies agree to further pilot e-visa issuance to foreigners

The majority of National Assembly deputies agreed with the need to continue the pilot issuance of e-visas for foreigners entering Viet Nam, on the sidelines of the ongoing sixth session of the 14th legislature in Ha Noi on 5 November.

Deputy Pham Khanh Phong Lan from Ho Chi Minh City said it is one of the stepping stones towards luring more foreign tourists and easing the burden on consulates and embassies, adding that it also proves the Government’s determination to keep administrative reform in line with the policy of IT application in State agencies for 2016-2020.

Deputy Nguyen Van Chien from Ha Noi said the move works towards fulfilling the demand for economic development and global integration.

Meanwhile, Deputy Pham Tat Thang from the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long said the pilot issuance of e-visas to foreigners has increased foreign tourist arrivals since early this year.

Deputy Do Thi Lan from the northern province of Quang Ninh stressed the need to improve domestic tourism products to contribute to the domestic economy.

She called for raising the sense of responsibility of legal enforcement agencies to create a better environment for tourism attraction.

The 14th National Assembly discussed the extension of the implementation of Resolution No.30/2016/QH14, on the pilot issuance of e-visas for foreigners entering Viet Nam, during their ongoing sixth session in Ha Noi on November 5.
