They were honoured at a meeting which was held last Saturday in the city in recognition of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the city’s Armed Forces.

On 28 August 1945, the city’s Provisional Revolutionary People’s Committee officially established the Fatherland Protection Company, which was the forerunner of the local armed forces.

The Commander of the city’s Military Headquarters, Colonel Truong Chi Lang, remarked that the city’s armed forces have made glorious achievements in Viet Nam’s struggles for national liberation, and during the construction and protection progress of the Fatherland, as well as in their compliance with its international obligations over the past 7 decades.  Most notably, their resounding victories have gone down in history as embodiments of Viet Nam’s revolutionary heroism.

Colonel Lang also highly praised the honourees for their active involvement in assisting younger generations of local military officers to successfully fulfil their tasks as assigned by the Party, the State, the People’s Army, and the people of Viet Nam.  He emphasised that the retirees have given great devotion to the development of the local armed forces, and to the city’s progress as a whole.
