A seminar on conducting research, and promoting the applications of Artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), took place in Da Nang on Wednesday.

Hosted by the municipal Department of Science and Technology, the event aimed to boost scientific and technological research activities in the current context of the thriving Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0.

In his remarks at the event, Dr. Tran The Vu from the Viet Nam-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education said the research activities and development of AI applications in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, are still in the early stage. He also pointed out a bid gap between theoretical researchers and product developers.

He, therefore, stressed the need for the city to find suitable AI-related training programmes for gifted students, thereby nurturing their passion for such aspect.

Also at the seminar, Dr Trinh Cong Duy from the Software Development Centre of the University of Da Nang introduced the ‘digital twin’ concept.

He also expressed his hope that Da Nang would become the first ‘digital city’ in Viet Nam.
