Dao Thuy Thuy Duong, a Year 6 pupil at Da Nang’s Tay Son Junior High School in Hai Chau District, has received a consolation prize in the 42nd Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-Writing Contest.  The result was announced on Wednesday by the school’s management board.

A total of 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals, along with 3 consolation prizes, were awarded in the contest.

Earlier, in April, Duong had won first prize in the national-level UPU Contest which had the title "Write Someone a Letter to Explain Why Water is a Precious Resource”.

Duong’s letter was about the incarnation of Thuy Tinh (the God of Water), a failed contestant in a competition to look for a husband for Princess My Nuong, daughter of the 18th Hung King.  It highlighted the importance of water for plants, animals and human beings.

Her winning letter gave Viet Nam the opportunity to enter the 42nd UPU International Contest and to be awarded the above-mentioned notable prize.
