All details of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2019, which will take place in the city from 1 June to 6 July, were officially released at the Tuesday press conference jointly held by the municipal government and the Sun Group.

Themed "Nhung dong song ke chuyen" (Stories by the Rivers), this year’s event will see the participation of 8 teams, namely Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, Italy, UK, China, and Da Nang-Viet Nam.

Again as in previous years, the DIFF 2019 event will still be organised by the real estate developer Sun Group, whilst the Global2000 International Limited from Malaysia will serve as the consultants for this much-awaited international-level large-scale event.

There will be 5 performance nights, themed “Origin”, “Seed”, “Love”, “Colours” and “Going out to Sea”, all of which will be live broadcast on the Viet Nam Television channel.

The opening ceremony on 1 June will see the competition between Viet Nam and Russia, followed by Brazil and Belgium on 8 June, Finland and Italy on 15 June, the UK and China on 22 June.

The best two teams will compete in the grand finale night on 6 July.

Each fireworks performance is required to last between 20 and 22 minute (no less than 20 and no more than 22 minutes) based on the topic of each night.

Each team will bring to DIFF 2019 stories of the rivers – evidence of history, of culture, the flows connecting life in each country and territory- told by lights and music, by passion, arts, and emotions. Therefore, DIFF 2019 promises the audience spectacular performances.

The fireworks will be set off at the former Han River Port near the Novotel on Bach Dang, whilst the viewing stands, offering a total of 83,000 ticketed seats, will be set up along the eastern bank of the Han River, again as in previous years.

The stage complex of DIFF 2019 will be similar to 2018, with modern models and technology, bringing comfort and convenience to the audience, with a large-scale LED system to enable the audience to follow art performances onstage. The most exciting and top art performances of Vietnamese artists will promise to surprise locals and visitors at every performance night.

The first prize winner at DIFF 2019 will be awarded with the DIFF 2019 trophy and 10,000 USD in cash, whilst the runner-up will be given 5,000 USD.

On the sideline of the over one-month-long festival, both local residents and visitors are expected to be treated to a wide range of fabulous cultural events. Notable amongst the support events at DIFF 2019 will be a first-ever national-level joint-performance flashmob show.

The contest will include 3 rounds (short-list, semi-final, final) to select the best 04 teams to participate in the Flashmob Finale at DIFF 2019 (happening 1 week before DIFF Finale night). The winner will perform on DIFF 2019 Finale night.

Besides, a fascinating street carnival, with performances from national and international artistes, is scheduled to take place from 6.00pm – 8.00pm on 7 Sundays, stretching from 26 May – 7 July, along a section of Bach Dang, one of the most beautiful and busy streets in Da Nang, exactly, between its intersections with Tran Quoc Toan and Ly Tu Trong.

Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh said DIFF topped a list of the 5 most outstanding cultural events in Viet Nam in 2018, which shows its spreading reputation.

Following great success from the previous festival, this year’s event is expected to maintain the city’s status as the most attractive festival and event destination in the country and in Asia as a whole.

Mr Duong The Bang, Chairman of SunGroup for the Central Region affirmed that the company would continue its efforts to assist the city to make the DIFF brand name worthy of the desire of locals and tourists.
