In detail, the traditional Tuy Loan Village Communal House Festival is held annually on the 9th and 10thdays of the 1st lunar month which fell on 13 and 14 February this year.

Held in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phong Commune, the event featured many solemn traditional activities and exciting folk games.

The 1st day of the event featured a royal honour ceremony to confer diplomas, a singing competition, and the release of candle-lit lanterns.

Meanwhile, incense-offering and gift-giving ceremonies in commemoration of national heroes and ancestors, plus balloon and pigeon releasing for peace and safety throughout the year, took place on the 2nd day of the festival.

In addition, various folk games were organised on that day. Included were boat races on the Tuy Loan River, and ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards) performances combined with exciting activities to honour the traditional crafts of making ‘banh trang’ (rice paper) and ‘banh tet’ (cylindrical glutinous rice cakes).

More interestingly, visitors to this year’s festival had the opportunity to enjoy impressive Tuong (classic drama) performances by artistes from the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre every night.
