Quang Binh Province debuted tour itineraries to the Hang Vom-Gieng Vooc cave system late last week, offering visitors another choice for caving trips aside from the world’s biggest cave, Son Doong.

The cave is inside Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the central province. The entrance of the cave’s first section, Hang Vom, is four kilometres from the western wing of the local section of the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Hang Vom is said to have unique beauty thanks to an internal lake just inside the entrance. It also has underground streams that are tributaries of the local Chay. Hang Vom is 100 metres wide and 50m high.
Gieng Vooc is the second section of the cave system. It is 400m long and 2.3m wide. The cave has four lakes and several streams inside. The cave is one km from Suoi Mooc.

Hang Vom-Gieng Vooc has magnificent stalactites. Chay River and Suoi Mooc are two tourism hotspots in the province.

Viet Hung Company, a local firm authorised to run caving tours into the cave system, offers two options. Tourists can choose between a one-day trip and a two-day, one-night trip.

Visitors get a chance to trek through the unique local habitat, wade in streams and cave in the karst grottos.

Between July and October, the company ran trail tour programmes in the cave.

Local tourism authorities expected the opening of official tours in Hang Vom-Gieng Vooc would give visitors a simpler adventure option in the province known as the “kingdom of caves.” Adventure tours that are popular in local Son Doong, Tu Lan and Hang En caves require trekkers to be in good health and posses a strong sense of adventure.
