The Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Van Huu Chien, recently approved the upgrade of the 29 March Park in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District.  The 24 billion VND project, which will be funded from the city’s budget, is intended to bring the best benefits for local residents.

According to the city’s Construction and Planning Institute, the focus will be on upgrading the outdoor entertainment areas, the working area for the park’s staff, the toilets and the parking areas.  An indoor playground, a flower garden, a square, a free-of-charge outdoor roller-skating rink, fitness and sports areas, rest areas for visitors to the park, and a wedding restaurant will all be created.  In addition, special attention will be paid to upgrading the park’s drainage systems and its existing fences alongside Nguyen Tri Phuong and Dien Bien Phu streets.  Most notably, an eye-catching lighting system will be installed in the park to allow local residents to take a stroll in the evenings.  The park’s existing toilets on Dien Bien Phu Street will be completely demolished, and the present zoo will be upgraded and new types of animals added.  There will also be several drinking and eating areas for visitors to the park, especially children and the elderly.

Chairman Chien also stressed the need to appeal for donations from local individuals and organisations to establish coffee and souvenir shops in the park.  The Construction and Planning Institute is considering building a floating stage on the park’s lake to diversify the entertainment activities in the park for the visitors.
