Da Nang to kick-start shared infrastructure of Lien Chieu Port project in mid-December

Work is expected to begin on shared infrastructure of the Lien Chieu Port project on December 14, according to the Da Nang Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects.

The shared infrastructure construction will feature dikes and breakwater systems (1,170m); navigation channel, turnaround places and marine signaling systems for cargo ships of up to 100,000DWT (6,000-8,000TEU); road traffic system connecting the port; and electricity and water supply infrastructure and ancillary works synchronously to the port gate.

In the immediate future, the approach road to the Lien Chieu Port will have 6 lanes. In addition, there will be separate entry and exit roads to the port in order to ensure convenient circulation of goods.

Invested by the Da Nang Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects, the shared infrastructure construction in the new port will be carried out in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District during the 2020 - 2024 period. The Management Board is making a seaport subdivision planning to connect Ta Quang Buu Street through Nguyen Phuoc Chu Street to Lien Chieu port.

Lien Chieu Port is one of three deep-water seaports in Viet Nam, capable of receiving cargo ships of up to 100,000DWT and larger, and container ships with loading capacities of 6,000-8,000 TEUs.

The Lien Chieu Port project consists of 2 components. Component A comprises of main work items such as dikes, breakwater systems, navigation channel, turnaround places and marine signaling systems, electricity and water supply infrastructure and ancillary works synchronously to the port gate. Component B, covering a total area of 44ha, includes 2 wharves (750 square meters)
