The 100 million US$ Mikazuki Spa & Hotel Resort project in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, developed by the Japan-based Katsura Hotel Mikazuki Co. Ltd., is now progressing well. Meanwhile, the developers of such other projects as the Nam O Lancaster Resort and the Lang Van resort and entertainment complex are handling obstacles to their implementation so that work can start as soon as possible, hereby making the northwestern part of the city new tourism and service hub.

As for the Nam O Lancaster Resort project, on 24 June, the Trung Thuy Group (TTG) submitted a plan for adjusting the total area and managing the Nam O Reef, and proposed community economic development activities as well.

TTG has pledged that, once the project is put into use, a total of 200 employees will be recruited. Also, this group has designated suitable anchorages for 20 coracle boats carrying tourists for sightseeing so as to ensure monthly income of 4 million VND per boat. Furthermore, TTG has committed to allow the display of Nam O fish sauce products for sale at TTG-invested rest stops nationwide, hereby helping to preserve and develop the local time-honoured traditional craft.

The project developer is now seeking a nod from the city authorities to pour 7 billion VND into developing infrastructure facilities nearby the Nam O Reef. Included are internal pathways, amusement parks and toilets, all of which meet the eco-standards.

In August 2016, the municipal administration granted permission to the implementation of the Lang Van resort and entertainment complex covering an area of over 1,000 ha, which consists of 60% of land and 40% of water surface with an operation term of 50 years.

Accordingly, the project’s investor, Vinpearl JSC, plans to pour 3,000 billion VND into the construction of hotels, bathing areas, sea sports and entertainment venues and more.

In November 2018, the project’s investor asked for permission from the municipal government to make some planning adjustments in which a certain part of the project will be earmarked for the construction of high-class urban areas combined with tourism services.

According to the municipal Department of Planning and Investment, Vinpearl contributed 200 billion VND to the city’s budget to ensure the best preparations for starting the project, and it is planning to submit an environmental impact assessment report for its project to the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment for approval.

Mr Nguyen Nhuong, the Vice Chairman of the Lien Chieu District People's Committee, highly applauded large-scale projects mentioned above for partly making positive changes in the district’s face and accelerating the economic development of the northwestern part, especially tourism, service, trade and industrial production. The city’s northwestern part is gradually thriving and affirms its stature as an attractive investment magnet.
