On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung had a working session with a group of visitors from Asian Development Bank (ADB).

On behalf of the visitors, Ms Hyunjung Lee, a senior energy economist at ADB, said her organisation was actively involved in perfecting the regulations, mechanisms and policies of the intelligent lighting and power saving project under the support of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction.

She also informed that the project would be implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) format.

She remarked that Da Nang, Ha Noi, Quang Nam, Binh Duong and Can Tho were always welcomed in the project.

For his part, Vice Chairman Dung noted his city has trialled many power saving projects over recent years. In addition, the municipal Department of Construction plans to replace 600,000 traditional street bulbs with LED ones from now until 2025.

He urged ADB to work with relevant local agencies to prepare necessary documents to join in the project.
