Over recent years, Da Nang’s key industrial products have been seafood, beer, textiles and garments, shoes, rubber tires, cement, iron, steel, and electronic components.

However, since the start of this year, the city has seen the effective shifting of the industrial structure more towards clean industries and high value-added consumer goods manufacturing industry, including electronics, electrical equipment, mechanical engineering, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, beer, and packaging.

In addition, the municipal authorities will continue giving top priority to promote the development of support industries in order to create such products as rubber tires, yarns, packaging, and spare parts.

Most recently, the city has attracted a large number of businesses and large-scale corporations from foreign countries, especially the USA, to invest into the city.

Notable amongst the projects is the 170 million USD Sunshine aerospace components manufacturing project which will be developed by the Universal Alloy Corporation Asia Pte. LTD-UAC at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park.

Also, the US Key Tronic EMS Group will implement the 70 million USD electronic equipment manufacturing and assembly factory project at the expanded Hoa Khanh Industrial Park (IP).

The USA-based Alton Industry Company has registered to invest over 87 million USD into building a factory specialising in manufacturing air compressors and robot vacuum cleaners at the Hi-tech Park.

The Mabuchi Motor Co Ltd will raise its investment capital by 30 million USD to deploy an electronic components factory expansion project at the Hoa Khanh IP.

At the ‘Spring Dialogue 2019’ programme which took place in the city in early March, the municipal government granted investment policy decisions and investment registration certificates to 8 projects totalling over 469 million USD.

Included were a 50 million USD electronic equipment manufacturing and assembly factory deployed by KeyTronicEMS, and the construction of a 7 million USD factory exhaust pipe manufacturing factory developed by the Hao Hsing Investment Co., Ltd, both at the expanded Hoa Khanh IP.

Besides, the Mabuchi Motor Co Ltd will deploy a 30 million USD electronic components factory expansion project at the Hoa Khanh IP, whilst a 6 million USD automobile manufacturing and assembling factory will be implemented by the Gaz Thanh Dat Limited Liability Company at the same IP.

According to the city’s investment attraction plan, this year the focus will be on approaching and appealing for more investment from multinational investors, mainly from Japan, South Korea, the USA, Australia and Europe nations.

Importance will be attached to continue boosting bilateral cooperation ties with international organisations in a bid to enhance investment promotion activities in the city's potential markets.

These organisations include South Korea's Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the South Korean Chamber of Business in Viet Nam (KORCHAM), and the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAM).
