Over last year, the city earned 19.403 trillion VND in revenue from tourism, surpassing the year’s estimates set by the city by 4.9%.

Currently, the city is home to about 689 accommodation establishments in total, offering a combined total of 28,821 rooms, an increase in the number of establishments and rooms by 114 and 7,497 respectively against 2016.

The refurbishment of such local popular attractions as the Sun World Ba Na Hills, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, the Asia Park, and the Da Nang Cocobay Entertainment and Tourism Complex has already been conducted.

There are currently a total of 15 scheduled and 14 charter direct international air routes connecting Da Nang with other destinations worldwide.

Interestingly, developed by a start-up business in the city, a chatbot on smart travel, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, was launched in November 2017 to serve visitors arriving in the city.

The Danang FantasiCity chatbot is attached to the Danang FantasiCity fanpage – the official channel of Da Nang’s tourism sector on Facebook.  Accessing it simply involves typing ‘Danang FantasiCity’ on Facebook or visiting https://visitdanang.com.vn/vi/.  Users can also quickly scan the code at tourist centres at popular destinations without downloading it.

To date, a total of over 23,000 copies of a code of conduct applicable to Da Nang's tourism sector in the Vietnamese, English, Chinese and Korean languages have been distributed free at such local public places as airports, the railway station, tourist attractions and hotels.

Co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Tourism and the Empire Corporation, a travel experiences contest entitled ‘Da Nang FantastiCity’, which took place between July and September 2017.  The event offered travel lovers worldwide the opportunity to visit Da Nang to experience its beauty, and leave with treasured memories.

The municipal Tourism Department’s Director, Mr Ngo Quang Vinh, remarked that greater efforts will be made to enhance the local tourism services through regularly organising tourism promotion activities at home and abroad in a bid to ensure a very safe, friendly and civilised tourism environment for domestic and foreign visitors.

Importance will be attached to fostering the progress of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism, which might generate high revenues to local tourism businesses community-based tourism, along with eco-tourism, and heritage, festival and marine tourism in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

Mr Cao Tri Dung, the Chairman of Da Nang Travel Association, underlined the importance of further expanding the city’s key foreign tourist markets, including Northeast Asia, France, England, Germany and Northern America.

Mr Dung noted that it is very necessary to build more roads running through many Asian countries, especially more transport routes along the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) for which Da Nang is the Pacific gateway.

Last, but not least, special heed will be paid to increasing the number of foreign visitor arrivals by air, road and cruise ship, in the years ahead.
