The Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism have announced that, from January to March, the city welcomed an estimate of over 748,000 visitors, a 26.7% increase compared with the same period last year.  273,000 of them were foreigners, representing a 28.9% increase, whilst the remainder were domestic visitors, a 25.5 % rise.  The local tourism sector earned an estimated 2 trillion VND, a 38.5% increase in comparison with the same period last year. 

Amongst the visitors were 70,600 cruise ship passengers from 64 ships, up 45% against 2013.  In addition, the city welcomed 71,000 air passengers, representing a 28% increase which is mainly attributed to the opening of 4 new direct charter flights between Da Nang and several foreign countries from early this year.  There are now a total of 4 scheduled and 16 charter international routes.
