Under an agreement between the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments, the Central Power Corporation (CPC) has installed transformer stations and electricity transmission lines at the Le Thanh border gate in Gia Lai Province in order to export electricity to Cambodia’s Ratanakiri Province.

Since 2012, CPC has exported stable-quality electricity to Ratanakiri Province, which was highly appreciated by its provincial government.  In 2012, CPC exported 13.6 million kWh of electricity to the province.  The power output exported in 2013 was 19.3 million kWh, a 42% increase against the previous year.

In the 1st quarter of this year, CPC earned 1 billion VND every month from exporting around 2 million kWh of electricity.  So far it has provided electricity for around 70% of people in the province, which has made a significant contribution towards tackling their local power shortages.
