The announcement was made at a press conference by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said early investigation showed that two assassins of the Palestinian lecturer could be Caucasians linked to an intelligence organisation of a country.

The victim, Fadi Mohammad al-Batsh, 35, was walking from his apartment in Kuala Lumpur to a dawn prayer on 21 April when he was shot by two gunmen riding a motorcycle. The man died immediately.

Closed-circuit television showed the assassins had waited for him for almost 20 minutes, local police said.
