In the afternoon of 16 October, 36-year-old Vu Bao was caught red-handed by the local police whilst he was trading in drugs illegally on a section of Pham Van Dong, in Son Tra District’s Phuoc My Ward.

A total of 230 tablets of ecstasy, 2 mobile phones and 10 million VND in cash were also seized at the scene.

It was reported that Bao has lived in Canada with his family for a long time, and repatriated to his roots to visit his relatives for many times.

The arrested man purchased drugs from an unknown Canadian man, and then waited for a chance to resell them to Da Nang’s drugs addicts, in the hope of reaping the highest possible profits. The banned substances were then hidden in packages which were sent to the city by air.

Further investigation into this case is ongoing.
