Da Nang’s Thanh Khe Police on Wednesday gave a temporary detention to Nguyen Van Huynh, 44, who resides in Hai Chau District on counts of ‘misappropriation of property’ as stipulated in the national 2015 Penal Code.

According to the police-conducted investigations, in June and July 2018, Huynh made orders of many products on sale on the Vietnamese online classified site https://www.chotot.com/. However, once Huynh received packages containing the already-ordered products from this popular online retailer’s deliverymen, the swindler resorted to deceptive tricks to flee the scenes immediately.

Prior to his arrest, Huynh successfully swindled dozens of millions of VND in a total of about 10 fraudulent cases for personal spending.

During interrogations, Huynh admitted his guilt, and the Thanh Khe District Police started to implement legal proceedings against the fraudster.

The case is still under investigation by the Thanh Khe District police.
