Youth union members give Tet gifts to mountainous residents

In the build up to the Tet Festival, youth union (UN) members from many universities and junior colleges across Da Nang have become actively involved in presenting Tet gifts to residents in Quang Nam Province’s mountainous areas. The intention is to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.

In particular, the UN organisation and the Students' Association of the Da Nang Architecture University have spent a total of over 75 million VND on doing voluntary works in Quang Nam Province’s Nam Giang District.

The money has been used to buy Tet gifts for a total of 32 social policy families and very poor households, and donate warm clothes for local children.  The focus has been also on presenting Tet gifts and bicycles to a total of 50 local studious pupils.

Meanwhile, UN members from the Lac Viet Junior College have visited and presented Tet gifts, totalling over 10 million VND, to a total of 25 Agent Orange victims, poor families, single elderly people living in Duy Vinh Commune in Quang Nam Province’s Duy Xuyen District. 

In addition, the college’s volunteers have provided free medicines for the poor residents and the elderly in the Gian Bi Village in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac Commune.  The total cost for such activities was over 15 million VND.

In similar vein, students from the Finance and Accounting Department of Dong A University have donated gifts, valued at 150,000 VND each, to a total of 252 pupils at the Bhalee Primary School in the province’s Tay Giang District.  In addition, Tet gifts, consisting of rice and cash, have been given to a total of 10 local poor families.  Also, similar gifts have been presented to 5 poor pupils at the district’ Ethnic Minority Boarding School.

Furthermore, some members from the municipal Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation have paid a visit to the Kim Dong Primary School in the province’s Bac Tra My District.  During the trip, scholarships, worth 20 million VND in total, were given to 50 of the school’s very poor pupils.

Meanwhile, YU members from the Junior College of Transport No2 have carried out voluntary works in Dong Giang District’s Ba Commune.  During their trip, the volunteers have donated Tet gifts, worth 300,000 VND each, to 45 poor households, and presenting warm clothes to local poor residents.
