In the past, many tourists to Da Nang’s Hai Van Pass were harassed by wandering vendors.   Now, this matter no longer occurs and tourists feel very comfortable enjoy the sightseeing.  This improvement has resulted from the joint efforts of the local authorities, Lien Chieu District’s authorities, and the city’s Border Guard Command.

During just one hour on Tuesday morning, dozens of coaches carrying tourists, the majority of whom were foreigners, stopped at the tourist site at the top of the pass.  The passengers were interested in buying souvenirs, taking photos, and enjoying the enchanting scenery in a relaxed atmosphere.  There was no evidence of harassment of the tourists at all.

There are now 14 stores there which sell souvenirs, drinks and food, as well as providing other services.  The salespeople can usually speak some pidgin English words which are easily understandable by foreign tourists and they can reply with “Yes” or “No”.
