The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) undersea Internet cable will be repaired from 25 February to 3 March, according to the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).  The Internet speed from Viet Nam to other countries will be affected during the repair period.

Nguyen Hong Hai, Deputy Director of VNPT's Viet Nam Datacommunications Company (VDC), said that the group has made careful preparations to help customers connect conveniently whilst the cable is being repaired.

On 20 December 2013, the cable was found to have been broken 278 kilometres off the coast of the southern city of Vung Tau.  This had made it difficult for Internet users to connect with the rest of the world, but this break was successfully repaired on January 4.

The 20,000-kilometre undersea cable, which became operational in 2009, connects the Southeast Asian region directly to the USA.
