A meeting to review the State management’s role in transport projects in Da Nang over recent years took place in the city on Monday.  The event was co-chaired by the Vietnamese Minister of Transport, Mr Dinh La Thang, and the municipal People’s Committee Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Chien suggested that the Ministry of Transport should start the overpass project at the Hue T-junction as soon as possible in order to eliminate accident hot spots in the city.  The city leader also asked the ministry to give funds to the city’s Highway 1A expansion project.

The local Department of Transport also proposed the building of an emergency escape road on the approach to the southern side of the Hai Van Pass.

Minister Thang spoke highly of the great efforts being made by the city’s transport sector, of its efficient state management work and its effective traffic control.  He promised to ask the relevant central agencies to approve the overpass project as soon as possible. 

He also asked the city’s transport sector to pay special attention to traffic hot spots in Hoa Vang District, locating even more traffic signs in the city, and widely publicising the road traffic laws.
