Mr Douglas Foo presented his ideas and shared experience in assisting Da Nang to ensure its comprehensive development towards modern civilisation based on Singapore’s successful development model.

Given privileges that nature has generously bestowed on Da Nang, it is high time for Da Nang to focus on accelerating the implementation process of building the smart city, and viewing this as an important requirement in ensuring sustainable development in harmony with nature.

In particular, in Mr Douglas Foo’s suggestions, the priority should be given to creating even more green space in a reasonable way in the urban area, and increasing the number of public utilities serving locals.

Furthermore, importance should be attached to training human resources, and making Da Nang more attractive to talents from home and abroad. Of note, the city should make sure that talented persons come to live here are offered opportunities to develop their careers and enjoy better lives.

With his constructive ideas mentioned above, Mr Douglas Foo expressed his belief that the city would become more civilised and modern in the years ahead.

Highly appreciated Mr Douglas Foo’s suggestions, Secretary Nghia highlighted the fact that Singapore and Da Nang share similarities in many aspects, and possess many cooperative opportunities.

The city Party chief noted that his locality the city is mulling over its socio-economic master plan and seeking its suitable development models. Therefore, it is a good idea to select Singapore consultants as its partners, and this is expected to open up good bilateral cooperation prospects.

With regard to its development strategies, Da Nang is concentrating its energies on furthering the progress of tourism, services, industrial production, and hi-tech agriculture, and with special heed paid to developing human resources and attracting talents.

The host hoped that Singaporean consultants, in the coming time, would introduce Da Nang to the city-state’s valuable development experiences and its humanitarian values.
