Chairman Tho briefed his Chinese guest on Da Nang’s remarkable achievements over the past 2 decades. The city leader also revealed the city is now focusing on making suitable adjustments to its socio-economic development plan by 2030, with a vision towards 2050.

Accordingly, top priority is being given to accelerating the progress of hi-tech, information technology, tourism, services, trade and other important aspects.

Also at the reception, the municipal government leader highly appreciated positive results from cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Chinese localities, including Guangxi, over recent years.

Last year, the number of Chinese visitors to Da Nang accounted for 30% of the total 2.3 million foreign tourists. There are direct flights connecting Da Nang with a total of  20 Chinese localities, 2 of which are destined for Guangxi.

The host hoped that Da Nang and Guangxi would continue to strengthen their cooperative ties, in the coming years, in economy, investment, tourism, and cultural and sporting exchange activities.

In reply, Chairman Chen Wu proudly said Guangxi has become an important gateway in China's opening up strategy and trade cooperation with ASEAN countries, including Viet Nam.

The annual export-import turnovers between Guangxi and Viet Nam reach over 60 billion yuan in total.

During his recent working session with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman Chen Wu affirmed Guangxi’s willingness to continue expanding its cooperative ties with Viet Nam’s central regional localities.

The Chinese guest also highly praised the efficiency of the existing direct flights connecting Da Nang with 2 cities in Guangxi in promoting bilateral cooperation in tourism, and other aspects.
