According to the White House’s announcement, this afternoon, President Trump delivered a keynote address at the APEC CEO Summit.  In his speech, the President presented the United States’ vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and underscored the important role the region plays in advancing America’s economic prosperity.

On Saturday, the US leader will fly to Ha Noi to pay a State visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang.  He will leave for the Phillipines on Sunday to participate in the Special Gala Celebration Dinner for the 50th Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, President Trump’s participation in the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, and his State visit to Viet Nam reflects the USA’s interest in the partnership with the country, and cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region as a whole.

In particular, the main goal of President Trump’s visits to Da Nang and Ha Noi is to foster bilateral cooperation with Viet Nam in economy, trade and security, as well as to open up an opportunity for strengthening the growing comprehensive partnership between the 2 countries.
