Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho held a reception yesterday for a delegation from the Presidium Board of the UK’s London Assembly led by its Chairwoman, Ms Jennette Arnold.

The city leader applauded the visit by the foreign guests and said that Da Nang is keen to establish bilateral cooperation with London and its business community in various aspects, but especially education and tourism.

Chairwoman Arnold expressed her delight at Da Nang’s remarkable achievements over recent years.  She hoped that the city’s leaders would continue issuing new policies which are in line with reality in order to maintain the city’s development and gain even more significant achievements in the years ahead.

Also at the reception, the host and guests discussed the various cultural and sporting activities which are being held across Da Nang during the Clipper Race fleet's 10-day stay in the city.

Chairman Tho highlighted the significance of the Clipper Round the World Race in promoting close links and cooperation opportunities between the city and many domestic and foreign localities.  He said that Da Nang has prepared carefully for the Clipper Race fleet’s arrival, and it is now ready to receive the fleet, along with the many domestic and foreign visitors who want to gain an insight into the land and the people of Da Nang.

Mr Tho took the opportunity to seek support from the London Assembly for a Da Nang roadshow, including exchange activities and to advertise the city’s tourism.  This is planned for London in July 2016 when the Clipper Race fleet returns to London’s St Katharine Dock at the end of the race.
