Viet Nam team ranks third in Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018

With 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals, Viet Nam finished 3rd out of 31 countries and territories in the Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018.

The result, an unofficial ranking based on the number of medals, was released on 20 May, with China first and Russia second.

Pham Duc Thang from the High School for Gifted Students under the Ha Noi National University, won the gold medal.

Hoang Xuan Nhat from the High School for Gifted Students under the HCM City National University, Nguyen Khanh from the High School for Gifted Students under the Ha Noi National University, Trinh Huu Gia Phuc from the Lam Son High School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hoa Province, and Nguyen Minh Tung from the High School for Gifted Students under the Ha Noi National University, shared the silver.

Nguyen Hoang Hai Minh from the High School for Gifted Students under the Ha Noi National University, and Duong Quoc Hung from the Thang Long High School for Gifted Students in Lam Dong Central Highlands province, were bronze medalists.

The Asia Informatics Olympiad 2018 was held online with 586 contestants from 31 countries and territories worldwide. A total of 87 contestants won medals.

Viet Nam had 15 contestants and joined the Olympiad online at the Ha Noi National University on 13 May.

In the Olympiad last year, Viet Nam won five silver medals and one bronze medal, finishing seventh.
