Viet Nam Tennis Federation to host 6 int'l tournaments next year

The Viet Nam Tennis Federation (VTF) will host 10 domestic and 6 international tournaments in total in 2018, VTF announced at a recent press conference.

The domestic tournaments will feature VTF Pro Tour 1 in Da Nang in February, VTF Pro Tour 2 in Thua Thien-Hue Province in April, VTF Pro Tour 3 in Khanh Hoa Province in June, and VTF Pro Tour 4 in Ho Chi Minh City in August.

VTF Junior Tour 1 is slated for Dak Lak Province in March, while VTF Junior Tour 2 will take place in Tay Ninh Province in June, VTF Junior Tour 3 in Can Tho City in August, and VTF Junior Tour 4 in Ho Chi Minh City in November.

A national championship will be held in Ha Noi in October, and the championship of Viet Nam outstanding players will be hosted by Nghe An Province in December.

Meanwhile, the international events will be the international U14 tournament group 2 in Ho Chi Minh City in January, Davis Cup group 3 for Asia-Pacific region in April, ITF U18 group 4 – Becamex Cup in Binh Duong Province in April and Men Futures F1, F2 and F3 in Thua Thien-Hue Province in April and May.

The international U18 tournament group 4 is scheduled for Ho Chi Minh City in July and the Viet Nam Open will be held in Ha Noi in October.

The VTF also revealed regulations of the Vietravel Cup 2017 that will take place in Nghe An from 17 – 22 December, with 8 male and eight female players competing, as well as 6 male duos and 6 female duos.

Speaking at the conference, VTF President Nguyen Quoc Ky said that in 2018, the federation will use the tournament system of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and International Association of Tennis Professionals in point counting and cash awards.

The federation will also help players join different domestic and international tournaments.

The federation hopes that Viet Nam will have representatives in the world’s top 100 players, while becoming one of the top tennis countries in ASEAN and Asia, he said.
