Since 2017, the DIFC has been upgraded into the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) which promises bigger and better performances.

Over the 10-year-long journey, DIFF has become one of the city’s large-scale international events, attracting the top notch fireworks contestants in the world. This has helped the city to re-affirm its position as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination’, the award it won at the World Travel Awards (WTAs) Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016.

Over the 2011 - 2015 period, the city welcomed an increasing number of domestic and foreign visitors each year, showing an average annual growth rate of around 20.1%. Of this figure, the volume of foreign tourists rose by 25.4%, whilst that of domestic travellers increased by 18.5%. Thanks to this, the average annual turnover of the tourism sector jumped by 30.7%

In 2017 alone, the city hosted a total of around 6.6 million visitors, up 19% against 2016. The tourism sector earned an estimated 19,403 billion VND in revenue, an increase of 20.6% against the previous year.

During the recent 4-day public holiday break from 28 April to 2 May, a total of over 355,000 domestic and foreign visitors arrived in the city to spend their vacations, and to participate in the opening ceremony of DIFF 2018 on 30 April.

Given this positive result, the global online booking platform Agoda has recently announced that Da Nang topped the list of  Viet Nam’s top 20 attractive destinations for the National Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May).

The successful organisation of DIFF 2018’s opening ceremony has been mainly attributed to the great efforts made by local authorities and the event’s organisers, along with the hospitality and enthusiasm made by local citizens.

In attempting to develop tourism as one of the city’s spearhead economic sectors, the focus has been on creating even more special tourism products to meet the diversified demands of visitors to the city.

Importance has been attached to ensuring the environmental sanitation, and guaranteeing the absolute safety of visitors during their stay in the city.

In addition, heed has been paid to controlling the operation of illegal street vendors who insist on begging passers-by to buy their goods, and ensuring the tourism service providers display the prices of their services, and sell them at those prices.

Relevant local agencies have increased their checks and tightened the monitoring of tourism services at popular attractions, beaches, and other spontaneous venues. In addition, an emphasis has been on strengthening State management of tourism activities in order to enhance the quality of tourism services, to ensure a healthy competitive environment between local tourism service providers, and to promptly detect any violations relating to this issue.

To help the city achieve even more success, and affirm its tourism brand name in regional and international markets, the focus will be on creating more new and special tourism products keeping pace with the world's development trends.

In addition, special heed will be paid to ensuring the effective management of land fund earmarked for tourism development, and enhancing the city’s competitiveness in international markets.
