Nestled in alley 124/3 Quang Trung, the Ava Chocolate Patisserie & Tearoom is an ideal place for people who love sipping tasty tea whilst enjoying various kinds of delicious cakes.

The tearoom has a classic style of interior design which offers romance in a vintage setting.  The venue features many sets of tables with white patterned tablecloths and lovely chairs with backrest cushions which are very comfortable to sit on.

The tea shop offers a wide selection of teas and flavourings so that customers can easily choose their favourite drink.  A popular order is herb tea served with tiramisu and macaroons, and tasty sandwiches and salads are also available.

Drinking tea whilst eating cakes is becoming a favourite hobby for people of all ages, including the young, and this venue is a wonderful place for them to indulge.

The owner of Ava Chocolate Patisserie & Tearoom, Mr Andy Widauer from Austria, boasts around 30 years of experience in hand-making various kinds of delicious cakes, and he also owns a shop selling these products in his hometown.

Mr Widauer revealed that their special love for the beautiful seaside city has inspired he and his Vietnamese wife to settle down here to open Ava Chocolate Patisserie & Tearoom.

Every day, Mr Widauer makes about 30 cakes which feature a harmonious combination amongst the mouth-watering French, Italian and German tastes, and a bit of reasonable adjustments to the sweetness in a bid to satisfy Vietnamese customers’ interest.

Located at 231 Tran Phu, Mumtaz is the first restaurant offering Indian foods in Da Nang.
Notable amongst the very simple yet very delicious dishes offered at this venue is Naan bread served with goat curry which is one of the most popular in India.  Goat is a wonderfully lean meat that tastes amazing and is a staple food across the globe.

The restaurant’s owner said he shows his keen interest in introducing the specialities in various parts of his hometown to Vietnamese gourmets.

Located inside the Da Nang Sakura Japanese Language Centre at 125 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, the Sakura Friends Café is a familiar address for both Japanese nationals in the city and those who love Japanese culture.

This venue is the brainchild of the Viet Nam – Japan Friendship Association.

The intention is to promote cultural exchange between the 2 countries, and offer employment to disadvantaged children being cared for at the Village of Hope as well as Vietnamese young people.  The team and students at the Sakura Language Center have built the café to create a Japanese style rendezvous for those who want to have contact with the two countries’ cultures or to chat with its Japanese and Vietnamese patrons.

Visitors to the café will be deeply impressed by its beautiful and tranquil space which features a unique Japanese-style garden.

Sakura Friends Café offers a wide range of drinks and delicious Japanese-style dishes to satisfy its guests.  They include ‘ca-phe da Nhat Ban’ (iced coffee), ‘da bao’ (crushed ice), ‘tra Nhat kem banh’ (green tea served with cakes), ‘banh Doremon’ (Doremon cake), ‘banh Chiffon’ (chiffon cake), ‘sushi cuon Nhat Ban’ (sushi roll), and ‘com nam Nhat Ban’ (rice balls).

When Japanese visitors arrive at the café, they are introduced to the land, people and culture of Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang in particular.

Various Viet Nam-Japan cultural programmes are held here every month with many different activities such as learning how to make Japanese dolls, how to play the Vietnamese monochord, Vietnamese and Japanese cooking classes, courses on Japanese etegami, as well as how to dispense Japanese tea, and enjoy drinking it.

Furthermore, the annual Japanese festivals which are organised at the café have made significant contributions to promoting the Japanese culture in Da Nang.  They include the ‘Tanabata’ (Star Festival) which takes place on 7th July of the lunar calendar, the ‘Hina Matsuri’ (Girls’ Festival) on 3 March, and the ‘Koinobori’ (Boys’ Festival) in May.

The Sakura Friends Café is very attractive to those who want to enjoy Japanese drinks and a great lunchtime with friends, as well as learn about the unique culture of the cherry blossom land.
