The event is held annually on the first Friday of December by the Viet Nam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency which has created a pervasive influence on the business community and consumers.

This year's event will see the participation of large firms including FPTShop, ViettelStore, Lazada, Sendo, Lotte, Aeon, Robins, Pico, Tiki and Mediamart.

According to the event’s organisers, the online shopping day is expected to generate estimated revenue of over 1.5 trillion VND (66 million US$) through more than one million successful deals.

Furthermore, the organisers will cooperate with such price comparison websites as Websosanh and Topgia in order to scan prices of products sold during the Online Friday to avoid misleading promotion and advertising.

Last year's Online Friday posted total revenue of nearly 1 trillion VND (44 million US$) and also saw the participation of nearly 3,000 enterprises.
