In the days leading to the Vietnamese Women’s Day (20 October), Da Nang’s menfolk have shown their keen interest in choosing the right gifts for their beloved women on this special occasion.

Many present options are available in the local market, but beautiful flowers can easily win the hearts of ladies. 

Many flower shops which are allocated at the Han Market, and along such local major streets as Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Pham Phu Thu, are very creative to offer different kinds of flowers.  These venues, in recent days, have been crowded with both retail and wholesale buyers, especially men.

It is reported that the price of flowers on sale in the local market on this special occasion has increased by between 20% and 30% compared with normal days.

Red roses remain the bestsellers.  The retail price of a sprig of roses now ranges between 10,000VND and 15,000VND, whilst carnations, gerberas and daisies are  being offered at between 4,000VND and 8,000VND apiece. 

A sprig of orchids is being sold between 50,000 VND and 100,000VND, and a fresh bouquet of lilies costs between 150,000VND and 250,000VND.

In addition, there are baskets of different kinds of flowers worth over 1 million VND are also available at many flower shops, depending on size and intricacy.

The majority of fresh flowers on sale in the local market are sourced from specialised growing areas in Lam Dong Province’s Da Lat City.

Apart from fresh flowers, a wide range of eye-catching everlasting dried ones have added richness to this year’s floral assemblage, and they have also won the trust of buyers.  A box of dried purple roses and yellow flowers is now priced at between 250,000 VND and 350,000 VND. 

In particular, roses covered with a colorful layer of wax which are valued between 25,000 VND and 50,000 VND apiece are now on ‘hot sale’ thanks to their allure.
