Lien Chieu Port project to start soon

On Monday, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong and Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho reached an agreement in Ha Noi on the city’s detailed plans to limit the maximum capacity of the Tien Sa Port, and to build the new Lien Chieu Port.

They agreed that the Tien Sa Port will be allowed to handle no more than 10 million tons of cargo per year to ensure traffic safety on the 14B Highway and to match the city's development strategies for developing the venue into an international tourism port.

With regard to the Lien Chieu Port, the 1st stage of the project will be started soon, using the public-private partnership (PPP) format.  In particular, funds from the national budget will be spent on building a breakwater, the dredging of the port's entrance channel, and other necessary technical facilities.  Meanwhile, the cost of installing the infrastructure and other equipment will come from private sector investment.
