As part of this push, a number of organic agriculture establishments have been created across the city, bringing initial positive results.

The Chairman of the Farmers' Association in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Tien Commune, Mr Dang Van Quang, remarked “In 2013, the municipal Farmers' Association began a cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City-based Que Lam company to develop a 5ha organic paddy rice area in the locality.  Now, the area has increased to 30ha and 220 local farming families are involved.  Participating farmers can earn up 600,000 VND from each 500m2 paddy field, after deducting their production costs, and this makes them very happy”.

Amongst the participating farmers is the head of Hoa Tien Commune’s An Trach Village, Mr Nguyen Dinh, who is growing 0.5ha of organic paddy rice within the commune.  He remarked, “I feel very secure with this programme because many technical agricultural employees have trained me how to effectively grow organic paddy rice”.

Da Nang now has 79.1ha dedicated to growing vegetables, and there are some organic pig and chicken breeding establishments in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Nhon and Hoa Ninh communes.  The city is aiming to develop more organic products, including mushrooms, watermelons, and freshwater fish, to ensure food safety and hygiene for local customers.
