The Da Nang People’s Committee has sought approval from Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc to adjust and supplement the city’s development plan for local industrial parks (IPs) by 2020, with a vision towards 2025.

The focus will be on expanding the total area of local industrial parks by 675.42ha in 2020, and 354.67ha in 2025.

The local authorities have also asked the PM to create even more favourable conditions for the city to further the development of its IPs.

As of 2006, the total land allocated for local IPs had reached over 1,218ha.  Over the past decade, that area has remained unchanged due to the city’s rapid urban growth.

However, the total area for IPs will be decreased to 965.79ha following a decision by the PM in 2013 to transfer land at the Da Nang Industrial Park into residential areas for local residents.

Therefore, expanding the total area of the local industrial parks is now one of the city’s most important tasks.  If the expansion is allowed, the city will be able to attract more domestic and FDI investment inflows into its IPs, and ensure stable growth of its industrial production in the years ahead.   This will, in turn, help the city to bolster its socio-economic progress, increase its total tax collections, and ensure the effective implementation of local social welfare programmes.
