On Tuesday, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, awarded EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) green building certification to the FPT Urban Company for its FPT Complex project which is underway in Da Nang.

Located in the city’s FPT Technological Urban Area in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward, the FPT Complex will cover an area of 5.9 ha.  The new building aims to provide high-end offices for IT specialists and engineers, and it will be able to accommodate 10,000 people.

The design of the FPT Complex features natural resource-saving systems, including wastewater treatment and rainwater collection systems, and high-efficiency lighting and air conditioning systems.  Once the project is put into operation, the use of the project’s systems are expected to help the company reduce its energy consumption by 20.97%, water use by 31.8%, and energy for producing materials by 20.2% compared with similar buildings in other localities.

EDGE is an innovative assessment tool.  By using EDGE, the financial viability of a green building project can be determined at the early design stage.  EDGE offers options that lead to an ideal set of technical solutions that reduce energy and water consumption, calculating upfront costs and potential operational savings.
